Christian Unity

Clearly, it was never the intention of our nation's founding fathers that the Federal Courts should legislate the laws of our land. That was to be a function delegated to the Congress and reserved to the States as specified in the 10th amendment.

Yet, over the past 60 plus years, Supreme Court Judges have engaged in a different task from that assigned to them by the United States Constitution. The courts have been "making law" rather than "interpreting law"… altering, thereby, the very character of the Republic itself… placing themselves in an oligarchic position of mandatory power over the citizens of this nation. As a consequence, they (the courts) have weakened their objective position and have become a kind of political football kicked into position by the subjective views (liberal or conservative) of the senatorial conformation power base.

The constitution was intended to be restrictive, not expansive, except by amendment. Yet the courts would have us believe that the Constitution is a "living thing" intended to grow and mature in order to meet the needs of post modern times. Baloney! It was intended to be no such thing. It was, in fact, restrictive, placing limits on each of the three branches of government, so as not to take away the freedoms of the citizens who reside in the various States.

A few of the more egregious examples of the court overstepping its bounds are:

  • Prohibiting Bible reading and prayer in our public schools (without a moral base look at what is happening in our schools).
  • Legalizing flag desecration as a form of free speech. (This is dumb, it calls for no elaboration!).
  • Requiring state and local police offices to recite the "Miranda" warning. (A ridiculous concession to the criminal element!).
  • Legalizing Abortion - Roe vs. Wade - January 1973. (During these past 29 years, abortionists have slaughtered over 36 million tiny, human babies).
Increasingly, our freedoms as a people are being abrogated in favor of Federal government control. In fact, the courts, with the willing support of Congress, have virtually stripped the State, counties, cities, and local communities of their authority to make law, which fit their respective regional needs; instead, continuing to centralize law-making power in the hands of the Federal government. Most particularly in the hands of the Supreme Court… a court majority that seems incrementally committed to a philosophy of centralization, egalitarianism, and secularism.

Anyone familiar with our American history is aware that the original role of the Federal government was intended to be a relatively benign, unobtrusive, and a modest one; and that the judiciary was expected to play an important but passive role. In fact, it wasn't until the 1930's that the Supreme Court had permanent quarters and a house of its own. Up to that point, they only met here and there for a few days each year in whatever location was available. Now, they meet for a full nine months of each year, secure in their unelected, lifetime appointments.

Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Munroe would be appalled if they were to see what has happened to the country, which they struggled so hard to form; pledging their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to liberty and freedom, both of which have been so twisted and distorted that they hardly bear any resemblance to the liberty and freedoms which were envisioned by these early founders and Presidents.

Finally, I must say that it ill behooves those of us who have supped at freedom's table to allow a continuation of this downward spiral. We Christian/Americans must set aside our apathetic reluctance and engage the political process with the salt and light of our convictions. To do less is to surrender this once proud, Christian, and moral nation to the legal elitists, self-serving politicians, liberal media, academic goofballs, feminists, sexual perverts, Hollywood geeks, well-healed power brokers, and anti-God secularists. These "gangs" all make their views known politically through PAC (Political Action Committees) groups, strong-arming Congress, or through litigation via the Federal courts. They are energetic, well-funded, demanding, and wholly committed to the destruction of all moral restraints in the name of a veritable host of weird ideologies; flavoring their language with all kinds of ambiguous buzz words, such as: tolerance, acceptance, discrimination, profiling, orientation, sympathy, empathy, self-actualization, freedom of choice, et al, ad nauseum… the usual meaningless legal/psycho-babble for the politically correct purveyors of lies, deceit, and scum-coated verbal garbage.

Jesus warned us of whitened sepulchers, full of dead men's bones and Christians are call to be involved by (James 2:24) putting our faith to work, thus bringing "salt and light" to our community, state, and nation. We must set aside our inter-denominational exclusivity and work together for the common good of all. There is but one Christ, not the exclusive property of the Apostolic, Baptists, Catholics, Episcopal, Methodists, Presbyterians, or others. The body of Christ is to be one, and in unity we can bring our country back to its moral sense… nothing less will work.

The recent Christian Unity March in Gallipolis, Ohio was a good sign, signally to the politically correct goofs that the moral majority is alive and well and willing to reclaim America for Christ!
