Hate Crimes
Americans, particularly Christian Americans,
need to be aware that Senator Ted Kennedy's "hate crimes"
bill has been set up on the "fast track" by Senate Majority
Leader, Tom Daschle who would limit discussion and debate on a bill
which would restrict freedom of speech as it related to homosexuality.
The intent of this bill is to shut down all discussion about homosexuality
throughout the nation, except in a positive light. A minister, for instance,
who might preach from Paul's letter to the Romans (1-26) concerning
men or women who lust after their same sex, would be hauled before the
courts, fined, and jailed.
Canada has these laws and Canadian T.V. and radio broadcasts are forbidden
to discuss homosexuality in any, but a positive way. For instance, a
man in Saskatchewan, who took out a newspaper ad featuring Bible verses
about homosexuality was hauled before a human rights commission and
fined $4500. Both the author and publisher were warned not to publish
any more "hate" speeches or else!
I guess that Messrs Kennedy and Daschle have chosen to ignore the 1st
amendment to our nation's Constitution or those clauses there-in-which
state: "or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press."
Our Senators, Voinovich and DeWine, as well as Representative Ted Strickland,
should hear our views on the "hate crimes" bill. The Capital
Switchboard is: 1-202-224-3121
