Let's Take Action

Our 33rd president, Harry S. Truman, said it very well: "If men and nations would but live by the precepts of the ancient prophets and the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount, problems which now seem so difficult would soon disappear ...  That is a supreme opportunity for the church to continue to fulfill its mission on earth.

"The Protestant Church, the Catholic Church, and the Jewish synagogue - bound together in the American unity of brotherhood - must provide the shock forces to accomplish this moral and spiritual awakening. No other agency can do it. Unless it is done, we are headed for the disaster we would deserve. Oh for an Isaiah or St. Paul to awaken a sick world to its moral responsibilities." (1946)

I can't, even for a moment, imagine that President Truman could in his final forward glance, have anticipated the prophetic reality of his thoughts concerning "the disaster we would deserve" and the horrendous moral tailspin we have witnessed these past 50 years.

Over 4,000 tiny unborn human babies are gruesomely slaughtered every day in abortion mills around the nation - their little body parts sold "by the piece" to research and experimental laboratories ... 51 percent of marriages terminated by divorce ... 33 percent of our nation's kids living in homes without dads... pornography and flag burning defended as "freedom of speech"... senior citizens being euthanized... military veterans being treated as second class citizens... public schools taking on the appearance of prisons or battlefield bunkers... homosexuals being "married" in civil unions... the armed services being used for forced social engineering ideologies... an out-of-control federal judiciary mandating law which has no historical or constitutional basis... an intellectual cultural elite who would trade away American freedoms for "One World Government"... and, there is more, much more, sad to say.

Christians have been told to stay in their pews and  shut up... that religion and politics don't mix... that the ABA (American Bar Association) in May 1989 conducted seminars in San Francisco entitled: "Expanding Use of Tort Law Against Religions" and "Tort Law as an Ideological Weapon"... Hitleresque techniques of ridicule, propaganda, desensitization and legal threats have been used by Hollywood, television, liberal media, intellectual "free-thinkers", the ACLU, PAW, NOW, NARAL, ABA, and other self-serving, rich and politically influential dissident power groups who have infiltrated the two party political system thrusting Christian thought aside (or out the door) as they seek their own secular humanistic, agnostic, atheistic agenda.

Although brief, a well stated problem often provides its own solution. Clearly, those Americans who embrace the Judeo/Christian value system must get involved in the political process of this nation or suffer the consequences... our pulpits must ring out with the righteous truth of the Gospel or accept the inevitable results... we must se aside our denominational differences and work together for the mutual good of all.

In short, we must overcome the spirit of timidity (2 Timothy 1:2) and become active (James 1:22, 23, 24, 25) and insist that the Christian voice once again be heard throughout the land at every level of government, city, county, state and nation. Remember: "The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom" (Proverbs 10:31) and let our voice be heard. Very simply, we want our values back, our families back, our schools back and our nation back.
