Reader's view: Speak out Let our voices be heard

Dear Editor:

I was pleased to read the letter to the editor written by Bob Weedy of Logan (Tribune, Friday Feb. 3, 2006), which challenged those secular groups who would deny Christian/Americans a voice in the political life of our nation.

Taking advantage of the free speech clause in the first amendment, these groups would seek to silence the views of Christian/Americans and deny them the same free speech privileges. They would cite the "separation of church and state" which is a made-up team and appears nowhere in our Constitution or its Bill of Rights.

Rather than silence, we Christian/Americans need to come together and speak out strongly against the crushing of our traditional values under the heels of secular humanists and their counter-parts.

Both Christian/Americans and secularists were shocked by the terrorist attacks, which killed over 3,000 men and women on 9-11. Yet it is little noted nor long remembered that on that same day and every day before and after since 1973, over 3,000 tiny, helpless, little baby boys and girls are slaughtered by abortion under the authority of secular activist judges.

Christian/Americans must not allow themselves to be deceived, thwarted, denied or discouraged into apathy, lethargy or torpor, but to actively engage those secular forces and reclaim America for Christ.

We have as much right as anyone else to let our voices be heard!
